Best of Bulgaria Suggestions?

For those who have gone on the Best of Bulgaria tour, especially this year, do you have any recommendations for things to do or places to see that aren’t included on the official tour schedule. Especially in Sofia, since I will have a free day prior to the tour commencing and then another day after its conclusion. Or anything you did or visited that you would skip if you had it to do over again? A waste of precious time. Another suggestion for the free time in the other places visited?

Any other thoughts on the tour?

Thanks!

I went on this tour in 2019 and was in Sofia again this past April as part of a Lyuba Tour of the Western Balkans. I especially enjoyed the National Institute of Archeology that's in the middle of the city. Amazing artifacts that are so old and well presented. Well worth a visit. I also enjoyed wandering the city and the many parks and statues. In Plovdiv there's an interesting archeological museum as well. Enjoy the Best of Bulgaria tour - it's wonderful and Bulgaria is a very interesting country and an "off the beaten path" destination. The people are friendly and the food is great and so much ancient history.
