Im doing the rick steves best of sicily tour next year september but will be in florence and rome prior to the tour start date. Is there an airline that people suggest for a flight from rome to palermo? will only have a carry on. Thanks in advance!
In 2023 we flew on Ryan Air. The other option was ITA. I chose Ryan Air because you could pay extra to carry a standard carry on. On ITA, it would have had to be checked and I didn’t want to separated from my bag.
As I recall, the price was the same once you added all the fees. It was simply a preference.
We took ITA roundtrip Rome/Palermo last spring --- we were checking bags, and the flight times worked out best for us.
we've used ITA/Delta, Ryanair and EasyJet on past flights from Rome to Sicily (CTA and/or PMO) -- if the price is comparable, I'd choose ITA in a heartbeat over the others, just because we've experienced some delays with the other carriers from time to time.
I flew ITA. It was a positive experience.
I’ve used ITA several times including just last month. The boarding gate crew were organized. The aircraft was clean and comfortable. The flight was on time and smooth. The crew (both cabin and flight) were very professional. I would gladly book with them again.
When we did the tour we flew ITA and it worked out fine. My preference in order would be ITA, Easy Jet, Ryanair. I've read the most complaints about Ryanair. Be aware that Easy Jet & Ryanair will check and enforce each and every rule to the letter about weight, size, check-in times, and so on.
