Barcelona to Madrid tour

One of the reviews mentioned they were disappointed the guide would be with them only from 9a.m. to 1 p.m. Has anyone else experienced this on this particular tour? If so, do you know why? It sounds odd that every afternoon would be free time.

That was my first RS tour.
My memory and reading the current daily itinerary, doesn't really support that.
I've always considered the free time a plus, and it is definitely noted in the itinerary.

When I took this tour six years ago, we did have free time most afternoons, beginning around 14:00. Although I greatly appreciated the opportunity to go it alone, I must add that our RS guide was so great, I would have benefited from more time "guided".

Took this tour this past September. Most afternoons were free around 1 or 2 PM. often ending near sites that you can visit on your own plus enjoy a lunch and rest your feet.

We were on this tour last year, and what usually happened (although not every day), was that we would have some sort of guided walk or museum visit, etc., in the morning with the group, then have free time in the afternoon, and then come back together in the evening for dinner or some other event. I found it to be a good balance of scheduled time and some time to rest or explore on our own.
