Hello all, I just want to tell people if a trip to Auschwitz’s is on your must do list, be careful where you buy your tickets. We bought ours directly from the museum site about two months before we were going. The tickets sell out fast. We then took a bus (very inexpensive) directly to the museum. Others we knew on our RS tour bought from ticket sellers. Several people had their tours changed or were cancelled the morning of the tour. If you read some Facebook Krakow forums, you know this is common. I felt bad for our fellow travelers.
An independent trip from Krakow initially seemed complicated. My husband (who doesn't do the trip planning/navigation/logistics) found it quite easy to do on his own.
We’re hearing about cancelled tours and disappearing tickets when bought from third parties in other countries, too, particularly Spain and Italy. Others have described not only missing out on the visit but also difficulty retrieving their money. Thank you for writing.
This is an interesting warning. I hope we can boost this post back to the top.
Unfortunately scammers are getting more sophisticated. Thanks for the warning.
I wonder if your fellow tour members got taken in by the very slick websites produced by the Walker Tours. They use official logos then in teeny typeface say “by Walker Tours”. I inadvertently got onto a website for the Orsay Museum and when I saw the ticket prices (double + the official price) I knew something was up. Happy you were able to what you wanted and feel bad for those that didn’t.
Thanks for the warning post!
