Rick Steves Athen hotels

We just received our Athens hotel for the Greece/Athens tour. Just curious, we noticed that we have been booked at the Athens Acropolis Select instead of the Hera Hotel. It looks like he uses Hera more often. Has anyone stayed here? Is it just as nice? Wondering why we are here...

Our tour group stayed at the Hera. The rooms were updated, nice, clean and a comfortable bed. If you are booking the tour, you will know the first and last hotel with your tour confirmation letter. I guess I’m a bit confused by your question, you do not select which hotel you stay in for the tour. If you are wondering about a hotel for before or after the tour, we have always found that it’s much easier to book with the hotel we stay with for the tour, less moving around.

I did a quick check of these hotels online and they look great and are well located. I did want to offer an alternative if you are looking for the same area, a nice hotel, and a lower price. Acropolis View Hotel.

Not been to the Hera Hotel, but our Greece tour, (precovid,) used the Acropolis Select and it was fine.

When I read your post, I thought the name "Athens Acropolis Select" sounded familiar. I used to review my hotel stays on Tripadvisor and sure enough, I did stay there a long time ago, in 2013. So while I don't know how it currently is, in my review I was quite satisfied with the hotel, staff and room itself. This was for a one night, post-cruise stay with my husband. And in my review, I noted that a Rick Steves tour group was staying there at the same time as we were there.

We've stayed at both. At the Hera Hotel twice.
On our last trip, we flew in pre-tour and booked the Hera Hotel. But the RS hotel was the Acropolis Select further down the street.
We found out that other tour groups also use the Hera Hotel, so I suspect the dates that RS tour would have booked the Hera Hotel were already taken, and/or the Hera Hotel couldn't accommodate both tour groups.
When it was time to move into the Acropolis select, we just wheeled our carryon luggage the couple blocks to the Acropolis Select.
the Athens Acropolis Select is just as nice. It's just a longer walk (a couple more blocks) to the Plaka, and the Acropolis and museum.

We stayed here for last year's tour (Sept 2024). I can't compare it to Hotel Hera, since we only stayed here. Rooms were the nice for RS Hotel. There was an elevator and I believe AC.
The hotel had a wonderful roof top bar/restaurant where you could see the Acropolis at night. Plenty of restaurants within a short walk from the Hotel. We loved this little gem..... Mezedopoleio To Mezedofono

We stayed at this this hotel before and after the tour, and the day before our RS tour started I noticed the Rhode Scholars tour group was there too.
Enjoy!!
