Yes, (kinda) but it was several years ago when there was only one itinerary and it covered the same countries as the 14/21 day tours. My grandkids, my adult kids, my sister, our husbands and I took it all together and it was one terrific experience. For more current information on the particular tour you are interested in, take a look at some of the Family Tour scrapbooks posted on the Rick Steves site. They always give a lovely and general idea of what you might expect. I think your kids are perfect ages for this itinerary. The tour department is also very helpful if you have any specific questions.

I have only taken one RS tori and that's the one "Family Europe 14 days " it was years ago and it was Rome to Paris .

I am a fairly experienced traveller and have been to most of the places on my own before the tour , and I had already taken another child to Europe on my own .

However I chose the tour route for my daughters trip ( all three of our kids got one on one trips to Europe with either their father or I , I took one son then my disghter and he took our other son ) for a few reasons .

I wanted to be able to give her a taste of many places in a short time , we spent time in Rome and Paris on our own before and after tour , but covering all those other destinations in two weeks would have been a lot of planning for me and a lot more work .

She is social and I knew she would enjoy the group experience ( my sons would not have)

And lastly I wanted to be able to relax a bit for part of our trip as being on my own with a child I had to be "on" every minute .

The tour was fabulous! There were 14 children on our tour between 8-17 and they all got along great , no drama at all! The kids took over the back of the bus and it was like a summer camp experience in Europe for them !

The local guides made the sites we saw interesting for the kids , injecting humour or gory details to make the history come alive !

Our guide ( and we had assistant guide) were great with the kids , and the activities they planned were special and family orientated ( the hike through the forest to see "Cinderella castle " was fun , the kids all needed a walk in the countryside not just cities cities cities ! )

One little girl fell in Rome and cut her eyebrow , the assistant guide was able to accompany family to hospital for stitches and act as translator , I am sure that was a comfort to them. They barley missed two hours of tour !

I can't say enough good stuff about the tour , seeing the kids exchange information on their different home towns , playing outside in the square in Venice while a few of us adults could sit and enjoy a coffee , seeing the the kids LEARNING AND BEING INTERESTED in history ( they all enjoyed the impromptu stop we made to visit the "Otzi the Iceman " in the museum in Bologna ) , the tour is a great experience for kids and adults alike !

I checked out the RS tour scrapbook archives. For 2016, there's one (Molly and Molly) written by a 13-year-old girl. Sounds like the tour was lovely, and great fun.

My son will be 8 and we are going on the Family tour with myself and my parents in June from Amsterdam to Rome. I am hoping there will be enough interesting things for him to really enjoy the experience. The ride on the Luge should be amazing for him, especially after watching the winter Olympics. I am hoping our tour will have kids close in age to him?!?!

Our Dallas family will be doing the London to Florence trip in July. Our boys are 12 and 14. I really wanted a good overall view of Europe for them. We almost signed up for the June tour but had a schedule conflict. Hope you have a great group and an even better time!

Brookeweist, your son will likely enjoy your very much !! RS guides really know how to make the history and sights interesting to children ( and adults ) ! They don't bill it as a "family " tour for nothing .
