Anyone on the April 15 Best of Europe Tour? Want to join us on the cicchetti tour in Venice?

We're going to be in Venice April 23 while on the RS 21 Day Best of Europe tour. We have booked two tours with Alessandro Schezzini: the bar tour (often referred to as the cicchetti tour) and the "offbeat tour," which travels off the beaten path. These tours are recommended in Rick's books, and some people have posted on the Forum about them, as well.

The offbeat tour begins at 4:30; the bar tour at 6:00. So far, my husband and I are the only people who have signed up, and Alessandro has a 6 - 8 person minimum. When I suggested to him that I troll for participants on this Forum, he said "Absolutely; do it and let's see."

So whether you're on the BoE tour or not, are you interested in either or both of Alessandro's tours? (He also does a third tour, to Burano, but we're not interested in that one this year.)

If you are, here's a link to his website: http://www.schezzini.it/ Or you can email him at alessandro@schezzini.it.

I am also posting this in the Italy section of this Forum, in case any folks who are not on the BoE tour are interested.

Sure wish I could join you. We did BOE 2 years ago and I would have loved to join you You get to Venice on day 8, I think. I’d bring it up once your group gathers and I’ll bet you fill up. We did have a group dinner on our first night there and many in our group did a gondola ride one of the two nights, but I can’t remember which. If it is the second night, it may impact who will join you. Your guide will be willing to help (all of them on our tours have been more than willing). Find out when Alessandro needs a final go.
Have fun

Patty, I think the optional gondola ride is the first night in Venice. And yes, I will certainly bring up Alessandro's tours when the group gathers; that's a great idea. Thank you.

I don't know how much lead time he needs; according to some other folks who have taken his tours, not much! But I'd like to know ahead of time...

I want to do this tour! I'm on the Best of Europe 14 day tour that starts April 29...I'm going to contact Alessandro about it. I'm traveling solo so I hope there will be 7 others to join me! Good luck!

Thanks, Lynn! I've been assured by other posters that Alessandro's tours do tend to fill up. Here's hoping!

Alessandro hosts a wonderful tour, we had about 20 people on a tour we did while on a cruise, it was fantasic!

I hope you enjoy yourselves!

Time is drawing near, so I'm bumping this up. I'm planning to email Alessandro later today to see if anyone else has signed up for his tours April 23.

Edit to add: Okay, I just heard from Alessandro, and he says DH and I are the only people signed up for that date. He has enough folks the following day to make a tour, but since we're on a RS tour we won't be available then. He told me to check back in a couple of weeks. I'm hopeful that if other people don't sign up, we can twist the arms of some of our Best of Europe tour mates. Chances are there are a couple of other folks in the group who enjoy wine and a good time...

If you can help with the airfare ( just $1200), I will sign up for the pub crawl ;-)

Does being there in spirit help?

When I was there on the Best of Italy tour, our guide took us on the pub crawl. A Spritz ( or 2-3) at the end of a hot day was wonderful.

Nice try, Joe. Since you want to be there in spirit, I'll lift a glass to you. :-)
