My wife and I are excited about experiencing Greek culture & food. This is our 2nd Rick Steves tour and it should be very good if it's anything like the 1st one.
I wish I were going, but I'm not. We did that tour two years ago and had a FANTASTIC time!! You are going to enjoy the heck out of it!
Donald, I'll be a month behind you, starting June 5. So, be sure to post any "hot tips" for things to see, do and eat during the free time on the tour!
And I'll be a week behind Larry, starting June 12 - can't wait! And yes, please share any great tips you have after you return. Have fun!
I just arrived home from this tour a couple of weeks ago. It was fantastic; even better than I anticipated. You will have a wonderful time. Greece is a gorgeous country. I don't know why CT and the Amalfi coast of Italy get so much more attention. I liked the Greek coast so much better...and no crowds.
We finished this tour April 9 and consider it the best tour we've taken out of four. (The others were GAS, Portugal and Best of Italy) Fantastic tour guide and absolutely beautiful country. We were lucky enough to be there during peak wildflower season which made the mountains and coastline even more scenic. The food was so very good and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Crystal clear turquoise Adriatic and Aegean seas. You will totally love this tour!
I'm on the tour now, sitting on my balcony overlooking the peaceful tree-covered hills and looking down on the red tiled roofs of Lagkadia. There are still plenty of wildflowers, the guide and driver are excellent and we laugh a lot with them. Greece is beautiful, people are kind and friendly, food is yummy. So far my only complaint is that there aren't enough hours in each day. . .. . well, also that my legs aren't as young as my spirit :-)
I hope you'll spend a few days in Athens either pre- or post-tour. There is much to see there besides what the tour covers.
