Any suggestions for the free day on the Amalfi Coast on the South Italy tour?

Hiking? Take a bus to? Take a ferry to? I'm not interested in shopping.

I would either get a driver and head to Amalf and Ravello, or just hang out in Positano on the beach. You could also hop a ferry to cruise between towns, but I am not sure what the schedule for that is.

Where are you originating from ?

  1. We rode the bus up to Nocelle and walked the Garden of the Gods - just follow the signs from the bus stop - for 5 hours, winding down into Praiano where we took another bus into Amalfi to catch the bus up to Ravello - loved Ravello ! Then we rode the ferry back which was such a delight to see the coastline from the water !

  2. Another day we took the ferry over to Capri and did 5 hikes - Via Krupp Augustus gardens, Belvedere Tragara, Punta Dell'arcera to Arco Naturale, and then Arco Naturale into Capri Town. You can also take the chairlift up to Mt. Solaro which leaves from Anacapri. When you get away from the "tourists" shopping, Capri is beautiful !

The beauty of the area is amazing !

Thanks for your help! There are so many tempting possibilities! We have all day free in Positano and another free day in Sorrento - but we have a group dinner that evening there. I do like the group dinners!
I'll look into the buses and the water ferries if the sea is calm.

We spent our day in Positano hiking and then the late afternoon/early evening at the beach. Beware, if you hike from Positano there are lots of stairs!
A fantastic place to eat is Bruno's, it is up the street from the hotel you will probably be staying in.

While in Sorrento, one suggestion will be to take the ferry to Capri. We did and we took a hike.

Plus, you do not want to miss the group dinner in Sorrento. If it is the same as ours, it will be in a family owned villa. The family was lovely and the dinner was stupendous. My mouth waters just thinks about that dinner. Our group had such a wonderful time there.
