We're trying to plan our time in the Laterbrunnen Valley for July. I know that we won't know the definite location of the hotel until 30 days before the trip, but for anyone who took this trip, what town did you stay in Switzerland? Just curious if we will be on the valley floor or up in one of the higher towns, perhaps.
Wilderswil near Interlaken. The railway station is a short walking distance from many hotels, easy to drive in and out.
In August 2014, the My Way Alpine Europe tour stayed in Lauterbrunnen. It's all beautiful.
Be happy you have 3 nights. One more chance for the weather to cooperate.
My tour was in 2015, also stayed in Lauterbrunnen. Look at the RS scrapbooks for more recent tours. They will usually give the town, if not the hotel. Have you tried to ask the RS office?
Thanks for the Scrapbook advice. I didn't know about those!!
We went through the scrapbooks to get ideas of where they stayed and what to do.
My Way stayed in Hotel Staubbach in LV middle of June last summer. Three gorgeous days and centrally located. Can’t go wrong anywhere but I was surprised that Mürren and Wengen, while harder to get to, have more going on than the tiny village of LV.
In June 2018 we stayed at the Hotel Belvedere in Wengen. There were beautiful views of the Jungfrau and easy access to the Kleine Scheidegg hike. It wasn’t a big deal to go down to Lauterbrunnen and up to the Schilthorn. We hiked down to Gimmewald from there. Our tour manager arranged an optional pizza dinner one night and some of us got together for a fondue dinner another night, both in Wengen.
Edited to clarify: "from there" meant from the Schilthorn lift in Murren, not from Wengen. We combined a trip up the Schilthorn with the hike to Gimmewald. From Gimmewald we took the cable car down, and the bus back to Lauterbrunnen.
