Alhambra Tour from Seville

We will be in Seville in late May and want to take a day tour from there to Granada and the Alhambra. We are wondering what tour company if other tourists have used and found worthwhile!

The Alhambra is not a single building; it is a complex of buildings. I spent well over half a day there, and some folks have made it a full-day activity. The fastest trains take over 2-1/2 hours; the buses are scheduled to take 3 hours. I doubt that a tour bus would be much, if any, faster than that. Furthermore, the train station and bus station in Granada are not near the Alhambra, so you'll need time for a taxi, and you're probably not staying near the train or bus station in Seville, either.

All told, roundtrip transportation will take 6 to7 hours, really not leaving enough time for a good visit to Granada. This would be an especially questionable idea if you don't already have plenty of time allocated to Seville. If you do have extra time in Seville (for me, that would be more than four nights there), I'd encourage you to spend at least one night in Granada so you're not so rushed. (I found enough to do in Granada to keep me busy for a three-night stay, but I am a slow traveler.)

This comes up a fair amount on the forum. You might try to search this website. If you'd like an opinion, I feel Granada is too far for a day trip and doesn't do the Alhambra justice. I believe others felt similarly. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great time. We just loved Sevilla!

I would agree with the prior postings. It is a long ways. I would save it for another time when you have more time.
