I saw that the Heart of Italy tour visits an alabaster workshop while in Volterra. I'd going to have a few days in Italy (after Village Italy tour) next year and this sounds interesting, so I thought I would ask if you recommend this.

Tony, the Village Italy tour may go there as well. Ours did. It depends on your guide, I believe.
It was interesting, but not something I'd go out of my way to see. Now, the Etruscan Museum in Volterra is wonderful! Our guide thought it worth about 15 minutes; we could have spent hours there.

Our Village Italy went there also. I agree with Jane. It was interesting but not the highlight of Volterra to me.
After Village Italy we spent a couple days in Milan. Saw the Last Supper and enjoyed Milan.
