Zurich worth a day?

I am flying into Zurich and out of Milan early Sept. Should arrive Zurich around 11 am. Was planning to go straight to Wengen by train but maybe I should stay a night in Zurich? If so, what should I see.

I'm not a big fan of Zurich...nice place to live but limited tourist appeal. If it were me I would head to scenic Luzern instead. It's easily reached by direct train from the airport train station; travel time 1 hour. After a few hours exploring the city, I would head to Wengen via the scenic Golden Pass train to Interlaken Ost station, and on to Wengen. http://youtu.be/NYy_maSNnco

Its only just over 2 hours from the airport to Interlaken Ost and then under an hour from there to Wengen via train to Lauterbrunnen then train to Wengen. I'd get there by tea time, with plenty of time left over. Others may advocate a night in Zuerich over a night in Wengen. Not me. (But then I also prefer Muerren oven Wengen, but both beautiful.)

Hi Nancy, Me, I'd head straight to Wengen, our favorite spot in Switzerland. If you really wanted to stay 1 night somewhere else, I'd pick Luzern. Only problem with Wengen (and the BO in general) is you'll most likely never want to leave. Paul

We spend a night in Zürich at the beginning of our Swiss trips because we arrive late in the day, around 5:00 pm and are ready to walk around after the 14 hour trip. But if we arrived earlier in the day, I would go straight to Wengen rather than spend the day in Zürich. Or if you have enough time in Wengen and would like to spend you first day and night seeing someplace else, Michael's suggestion of Luzern is a good one. If you'd like a bit of adventure take the boat and train or cable car to Rigi and spend the night at Rigi Kaltbad or Rigi Kulm. Read Mark Twain's account of Luzern and hiking up Rigi for the sunrise first.
