hi I am going to drive from Zurich to innsbruck what is the best way to drive - A1 through St. Gallen or A3 through Vaduz? Would like one good stop also would like to avoid hairpin bends etc. simpler route would be better.
Looks like the distance and time on both the routes are pretty similar
The A3-A13 route is more scenic. It runs along along the beautiful Zurichsee and then through an Alpine valley. No hairpin turns, it's all Autobahn. The scenery along A1 isn't that interesting. A13 doesn't actually go through Liechtenstein, it runs along the Swiss side of the proto-Rhine river. If you want, you can cut through the northern corner of the country on your way to pick up the A14 at Feldkirch, but it isn't necessary. Liechtenstein sits in a beautiful Alpine valley, but the country itself is virtually identical to the Swiss and Austrian territory on either side of it's borders.
thanks.. thats helpful. Any suggestions on where to stop midway sightseeing + rest?
It's a slight detour, but I would recommend having lunch on the harbor in Lindau. If you have a sunny day, the view is stunning.
