We are traveling to Germany, Austria and Switzerland in October. We will be spending most of our time in Germany but want to make a stop in Zurich.
What do you recommend seeing? Where do you recommend staying?

Zurich is expensive. A hotel that is convenient, clean and reasonably cheap is the Limmathof (www.limmathof.com). You can see it across the trolley tracks when you step out of the Bahnhof. Also within sight is the COOP for food and supplies. I've used Zurich mostly as a rest stop for other connections, but a boatride on the lake might be nice.

Zurich is nice - but there are MUCH nicer places to see and stay than Zurich. Head for Lucerne for a medieval village on the river or the Lauterbrunnen Valley for some eye-popping scenery of the Alps.
