We have a layover in Zurich our last night, any recommendations for a moderately priced hotel that is centrally located? 2 adults + 2 kids (11 and 13).
I've stayed in the Pension St Josef 2 or 3 times and every time we had a huge room. Yes, maybe Lola got a bad room. Hotel Pension St Josef - you can't beat it.
We have stayed in two different hotels with 4-person family rooms in downtown Zurich, Hotel St. Josef and Hotel Bristol. both are just a few blocks from the train station. Both were around 300 CHF for our family of 4. Of the two, I much preferred Hotel Bristol-our superior quad room was much larger, brighter, and more comfortable. Maybe we just got a bad room at St. Josef, but it was dark, and very crowded for 4 of us, especially once we pulled out th esofa bed. Last summer, for the same price (300 CHF) we got 2 double rooms at the Radisson Blu, an upscale hotel inside the Zurich airport. The 150 per room was an advance-purchase special. It was very nice, but the separate rooms won't work for your family with younger children; you would have to split up with one parent and one child in each room.
