Any recommendations for cheaper accommodations in Zurich preferably near train station or public transportation? Thanks for your help.

Mari, two places we have stayed that are reasonably priced ( for Zürich) are Hotel Bristol and Hotel St Josef. Both are within a 10 minute walk, or less, from the main train station. We like Hotel Adler, in the Altstadt, a bit more than either of those, but it is more expensive and a bit longer walk.

We actually stayed in Zug which is about 30 mins out of Zurich towards Lucerne.

we stayed at Hotel Montana on Konradstrasse near the train station. Its a best western with nice views of the hills. Close proximity to everything. Great!
