I'm torn on whether to stay in a balcony room at WEinhaus Mayor in Zell or the Haus Lipmann in Beilstein that so many rave about. They are both right on the river I think but I saw on Fodors that Zell seemed a little worn.
Any opinions?

We stayed in Beilstein about 7 years ago. We were unable get a room at Haus Lipmann, but enjoyed the fruits of the Mosel on their dining patio under very old vines on 2 successive nights. Beilstein is very small, a place you can get to know quite thoroughly on foot in an evening or 2.
We stayed at Haus Lipmann in Beilstein last September. Loved it, lovely room overlooking the river, great restaurant. Beilstein is tiny, and less touristy and quieter than Zell, and we were glad we chose to stay in Beilstein. Spent one day driving the Mosel towards Trier, stopping at the villages along the way. The next day we rode bikes going the other direction towards Cochem. Had a great time.
We stayed at Haus Lipmann in Beilstein and had a great visit. The locals were friendly, the room great, and the wine cellar a perfect escape from the summer heat. Also, it was easy to travel through the area even without a car.
