I will be travelling in early October 2012. I would like to visit Ypres and some of Belguim and Holland before the cruise starts in Amsterdam. I will be spending up to a week in Belguim and Holland (plans are not firm yet, other than cruise start date Oct 7). I am unsure whether I will stay in Ypres or take a day trip from Bruges. I do want to find a specific graveyard in Ypres. Bruges sounds very beautiful. I have never visited Belguim. I have been to Amsterdam many years ago but only for a couple of days. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have been all around Ypres and that sad area, as day trips from Bruges but I did have the advantage of a car. Many things to see, some distance apart. There are guides who will collect in Bruges. As far as the specific cemetery and probably specific grave, I see you are Canadian. Have a look at the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. They do a most excellent job and can really pave the way for you. If you have time when in Bruges hop over to Ghent and enjoy.
