Yellow Van Shuttle Paris Airport

My husband and I are going to be going on a Rick Steve's Tour that starts in Paris. We have booked our flight to Paris to land a day early, (to allow time for unexpected travel issues.) Anyways, we booked a hotel that was recommended in the Paris Rick Steves book. The hotel offers a shuttle service that is 40 euros from the Airport to our hotel. The company is Yellow Van Shuttle, but a Parisshuttle.com is the operator. Has anyone done this before? Any advice would be wonderful!! We have never gone overseas! Thank You for your help

I saw something on an Air France Bus that goes into Paris. Depending on where it goes and your hotel, it is considerably less than 40 euros.

Hi Nicole. Is it 40E per person or total? If 40E total, and you want easy for your first time, that would work well. If you want a little more adventure, other options are (1) Air France shuttle to town, then walk, metro, or cab to hotel; or (2) train/metro from airport to within a few blocks or your hotel. Our first time, we took a hotel shuttle to avoid worry, worked fine; now we always take the train/metro for more fun. Enjoy your trip!

I strongly agree with Bob, especially if it's your first time. Even though we have traveled quite a bit, I always take a Hotel arranged taxi to CDG airport to insure my departure from Paris is not stressful. Like Bob and others we enjoy(at least I do)adventure of getting from CDG or Orly to Paris Hotel. We have some interesting stories as do others, but it just adds to your list of fond memories. By the way, it never hurts to present the physical address of the Hotel to whoever is driving your shuttle, this helps avoid being taken to an address you never heard of.

The cost is 40 dollars combined cost. I have read horror stories about pickpocketers, muggings etc. I am very uneasy about being somewhere where I have no idea where we are! How easy is the train? Are there cabs once you get to paris from the train? Please help me! In the Books I have read you can take the train, but doesn't really explain the logistics. Thank you for all your input!

Nicole, Deep breaths. Paris is not an unrelenting den of thieves, muggers and pickpockets. The AirFrance bus goes to the major trains stations and you could then take the metro to your hotel. It would help to know where your hotel is; then you could figure out what metro stop it is near, and if doing this makes sense. The shuttle provided by your hotel would be way easier, but probably more expensive. Make sure you pack light. There's nothing more annoying than trying to navigate public transportation with numerous huge bags.

We are only taking a backpack each! The Rick Steves' limit! Do you think that the shuttle is legitimate?

Nicole, I think that 40 euros/dollars is a great price for a shuttle for 2 people. Did you just book an extra night at the hotel you are using for your RS tour? If so, I'd feel totally comfortable using the shuttle service. I'd use it anyway since you say it's a RS-recommended hotel. Hope you have a great time in Paris (my favorite city!).

No not the hotel that we are staying at on the tour. We are staying near the Rue Clar district. Thanks for the kind words
