I plan to retrace my dad's wartime moves across Europe with my grandson in 2013. My dad went from Southampton, England across the channel to Normandy (Utah Beach) then across France to Malmedy, Belgium and the Ardennes(important destinations for us) and into Germany. Does anyone know if there is any kind of pre-planned trip out there somewhere, that would take us on that sort of itinerary? Any suggestions appreciated. Our first international trip of this sort on our own. Thank you
Sorry I can't help you, but just want to say what a wonderful trip for you and your grandson. We are trying to put together a trip next year for our grandson. He is very interested in World War II so we will be going to Normandy. What a great tribute to your Dad! Hope you get lots of suggestions and have a great trip! Sincerely, Sharon
check out steven ambrose tours. I believe the web address is stevenambrousetours.com. You can also do this by yourself too. Tour Normandy then go to Bastogne, tours are available in Normandy and local guides are available in Bastogne to go go around the Ardennes and the battle of the bulge.
Yep, there's a trip for that. By weird coincidence, I happened upon an ad for it yesterday and clicked. Then saw your question today. http://www.currclick.com/product/71229/WWII-and-the-Western-Front-Trip-Information-Sign-up?affiliate_id=148480 My thought is that it's awfully pricey and rushed, and that you could do it yourself for less. But - everything is taken care of for you with this.
