Our train from Nice, drops us at Gare Lyon at 12:11 pm. Our connection to Caen leaves from St Lazare at 13:05.. That's like 54 minutes to get across town. Can we do it ?? Cab or Metro, whatta ya say. Thanks,George
Take the next train....
Problem with that... The Hertz office will be closed by then, in Caen,,,,,
Metro line 14 goes directly from Gare de Lyon to Gare St Lazare in seven minutes. Trains run every three minutes or so. If your train from Nice arrives on time, you will easily make your connection--assuming you have bought your Paris-Caen ticket in advance (in Nice, for example) and don't have to stand in line at the ticket window.
Tim, thanks so much. Yes we have tickets and seats already...Is it hard for two Grizwald types, to find the Metro in Gare Lyon ??
We had this connection last year and I was really worried about the time. But it is very easy to navigate from Gare Lyon to Gare St. Lazare - just follow the signs in the metro. And as someone has said the actual trip is less than ten minutes. Just don't lollygag and you will be fine. Enjoy Caen and the Normandy area. It is beautiful.
I wouldn't attempt a cab - I think that would take much longer than the metro!
Susan is right....when all else fails, follow the signs to the Metro and when you get lost ASK SOMEONE. Too many travelers hesitate to ask.
I ALWAYS ask. And I'm amazed at how eager foreign nationals are to help. If you move through the terminal at a fast pace you should make connections.
