Women's hats in Europe, particularly Spain

I simply must wear a hat at all times while outside. What type of hat is being worn by European women, particularly in Spain? I have been told to avoid the American "baseball cap" look. Thank you very much!

Why not wear a nice straw hat? Get something that will shade your eyes nicely too, plus they are a heck of a lot cooler than a baseball hat when it is hot outside. That said, if you want to wear a baseball hat, then wear one, no one will really care. If you like, buy a hat when you get there with the national soccer team colors on it.

I posted a reply to similar question about men's hats a couple weeks ago. Tilly Endurables has very nice women's styles as well as men's. I have the TH10 Women's Hemp hat which I love. Crushable, packable, and still looks great.

I used to worry about wearing a baseball style cap.. but there does seem any point in worrying about it any more. I mean, the locals will identify you as a tourist with or without the cap. The pickpockets will be able to find you regardless, and Spain is very live and let live -- so you need not worry about being seen as the 'ugly American'. Maybe take the hat off indoors, but generally do not worry about it.

Btw I should qualify my response by saying that I am male so maybe not the best judge of conventions regarding women's hats. But still, Spain is pretty easygoing.

I would wear what you are most comfortable in. I spent countless hours searching for the perfect non-American stylish walking shoes for a 3 week trip to Italy. I also packed some Asics trail runners for Cinque Terra (that happen to match my boyfriends--very unstylish). At the airport I twisted my ankle and the only shoes I could wear for 3 weeks without pain were the trail runners that he wore all the time. We had matching tennis shoes...no one cared except me.
