Winter Sports in/near Paris

We will be travelling to Europe this winter with two children age 12/17 and we all love sports. We will be in Paris from 12/30/07 thru 1/708. I am already researching the Fat Tire Bike tours (appear to be limited during winter) and am aware of the skateboarders fri/sat nights. I have tried to find info re rugby/football (can't find any games to watch during that time period). Rick Steves mentions luge courses but they all seem to be open for summer only. We could do a day trip to the snow (we're NOT skiers). Have found a really great sounding resort in La Crusaz that has alot of activities including dog sledding but its a 4hr trip each way which would be more of an overnight trip. Anyone have any suggestions? P.S. We're not interested in paragliding or "height" related activities. Thanks

You won't have any luck with football...they take a break over Xmas-New Years. Rugby does too, but they're back on 4 Jan. However, I believe Paris is away that day.

As Norm said there is no football in most of Europe in January. In fact, a lot of teams head to Florida and use the baseball spring training facilities during this break.
