I know this is a subjective question, but for sheer natural beauty, which do you prefer - St. Gilgen/Wolfgangsee or the Berchtesgaden/Konigssee area?

Both are very pretty and good choices, but for natural beauty, I would lean towards St Gilgen.

Geez, hate to have to choose, but I'd say the Berchtesgaden area. Hopefully you can see both and decide for yourself :)

Both are good, but if you can only do one I'd recommend St Gilgen. A beautiful village with a great view over the Wolfgangsee. If you're in Salzburg without a car, a regional bus does regular runs to St. G. taking about 45 min.
