WIneries in the Dordogne and Loire

Hello all.

My wife and I will be in the Dordogne and Loire valley regions in May, and I wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for any wineries to visit in those regions. Interested primarily in smaller, family run wineries ( with tasty wine, of course ).

Also, if anyone knows of any good wine bars in Sarlat or Amboise ( where we'll be staying ) let me know.

Thanks,
Jan

The Marc Bredif winery in the little village of Rochecorbon is just up the road from Amboise. They have a wonderful cave tour and they produce an outstanding Vouvray wine.

There's several brasseries in Amboise. They tend to fill up and the patrons tend to linger, so don't wait to long to go to dinner.

Not really a winery, as such, but there are several wine caves along the D751 (the road that runs parallel to the south bank of the Loire). If you drive towards Chaumont or Chamord from Amboise along the river, you'll see them.

Thanks for the replies.
I've been to Amboise before and already know about the wine bar under the chateau. I bicycled to Chenonceau (sp) and passed a couple of wineries, but figured that I'd never get to the chateau if I stopped!

We will be going to the Vouvray area one of the days, so we'll try and hit that winery.
