I am going to Paris in mid-March and would like to take a day trip to either the CHampagne region or Loire valley and do a tour of the cellar, vineyards, etc, and then subsequent wine tastings (or champagne). Do anyone have some suggestions of wineries or places specifically to visit? Thanks!
In Champagne, purists may want to visit Epernay's Möet et Chandon, 15 miles from Reims. Or since it's a day trip, Mumm is closer to the Reims train station. In the Loire Valley, Vouvray is between Amboise and Tour, might be a push to do it as a day trip though.
Hi Anne:
I was in the Region last September. I would recommend the following ones that I visited
in Reims : Champagne Pommery.
in Epernay: Champagne Mercier (Located at the Avenue de la Champagne where there are many Champagne houses. If you have time you can also visit Champagne Castellane, I did not go, but they have a tower that you can climb, & the views should be amazing.
One more thing the Champagne Houses close from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Also on your way to Champagne Mercier if there is a Restaurant Le Chinois, (no chinese food) that serves local food & seems that many locals go there.
If you want more information please feel free to e-mail me.
