Hi everyone! I am going to France in June with my mom and my aunt as a belated college graduation celebration! I am very excited to go with them. While there, I thought it'd be fun to go on a wine tasting tour in the Loire Valley! We will have a rental car so secluded isn't an issue. I also am looking for something budget friendly and not too crazy expensive. Have you ever done a wine tasting in the Loire Valley before and do you have any suggestions for where or where not to go? Thank you all so much in advance!!
One of the Loire highlights for us was the Marc Bredif wine cellars in Rochecorbon. They have a fun tour of their extensive caves and their Vouvray wine is top-notch. It's about a 20-minute drive west of Amboise.
If you are a serious wine buff, the most prestigious Loire valley wine is Huet. Probably need an intro from your local wine merchant. otherwise just a casual wine drinker there are many many places you can find just driving around- or preferably check the web pages and get some names and locations. many of these have wine associations for the local wine
Here is website for the Caves Monmousseau- great Vouvray and sparking wine http://www.monmousseau.com/EN/06.htm
I did the tour as a student over 30 years ago. It was a lot of fun!
Vouvray! Whatever you do, do a tasting of Vouvray. Delightful characteristic local wine. Yummy!
