If we want to go from, say Verona (or Milan) to Bern - with our final destination being Paris. Do I look at a train site for Italian locations or Swiss? Just wondering since our trip initially begins in Verona, but we might spend a night along the line in Switzerland. Thanks so much!
Use the DBahn site to find all train schedules and connections: http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en
You didn't say when you were traveling. Rail schedules are rarely posted more than 60 to 90 days in advance. So if you want to know the schedule just pick the same day next month as schedules change little from quarter to quarter.
first or second week of June. Those train sites are so confusing. I hardly know where to start because of the connecting trains one must catch. Thank you .
I prefer the Swiss rail site, www.rail.ch for travel that includes Switzerland. You have at least two choices for routes to Bern, both starting with a Verona to Milan trip. From Milan, you can go via the Gotthard Pass route to Luzern to spend the night, then continue to Bern, about an hour from Luzern, and Paris. Or you can go from Milan north to Brig, and then to Bern. Kandersteg would make a good overnight stop on this route. It is a pretty village nestled at the base of mountains, with nice views.
Thank you! This is very helpful
