We will be driving for 5 days, and need to end up near Paris to drop off the car. Our apartment in Paris will be near the St. Paul metro. Where should we drop off our car so we can get to our Paris apartment easily without a car? Is the Lyon train station convenient for metro access?

Whatever you do i suggest you google earth street view the location of the drop off. we dropped at Lyon and there is just some small signs and then you navigate down a parking garage and leave the car in a parking spot.
the GPS didn't get us there and we dorve around in circles (one way streets)a while till we found/recognized the drop off.
we dropped off on a sunday morning so traffic was manageable both in paris and on the freeways.

Gare de Lyon would be a good drop-off location. Both it and the Saint-Paul Metro station are on Metro line 1. Bastille is only one stop between them. There are major roads you can take from the Peripherique ring road to Gare de Lyon.
