which photo upload site do you use?

so......I was all set to use flickr.com to upload the pics from my trip to Spain (we're leaving Friday!!) and I think it said you're only allowed to upload 100mb per month??? and I am pretty sure I'll go over that as each pic from my camera is 2mb and that would give me only 50 pics to upload? right? so, now I'm not sure what to do. so thought I'd seek advice once again here. What site do you use to upload pics? Ideally, I'd prefer a site that doesn't have a limit but maybe that's not realistic? I sure don't know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I use a netbook. I don't need any website. Not only can I store my pictures, I can sort and label them.

I use webshots, but my photos are not that big. I have never hit a max.

My camera store guy said downloading the pics onto a CD and bringing them home and uploading into the computer then was a good way to do it.

Are you uploading them to store or to share with people as you go? If you just need to store them, I like Snapfish.

well...I was going to do a bit of both. I would like to store them somewhere other than my netbook, although I am also going to copy them onto my flash drive. guess I just want to be extra careful and have 3 copies. I know, probably crazy. BUT, I also want to share the pics in different ways. on facebook maybe and then I need to be able to get the html tag to post the pics on a blog I participate on. I'm not sure if snapfish can do the latter but I did think of them the other day as a way to store them.

thanks for the replies! appreciate it.

Think about using Drop Box. You can sychronize this so that all your photos go to your home computer while you are traveling, so no worries about them getting lost. You can even sychronize your families computers so that they get your photos while you are traveling too. You can even add your iphone photos on to this.

I also use Web Shots. Have used the for several years now and never had a problem.

Toby,

I use This Photo Site and have found their customer service to be excellent (despite the unusual name).

For a reasonable yearly charge, they allow unlimited storage. The site is very user friendly, and setting up galleries is not hard once you become familiar with it. As I recall, their Servers are backed up in three states, so chances of losing photos is just about nil.

As I'll be travelling with a Netbook this year, I'm hoping to upload a few photos to my galleries while I'm travelling so that family and friends can follow my trip.

Cheers!

Lee,

The advantage of using an online site is that you can easily share pictures with family and friends.

Then why the concern about the 100mb limit. Are you really so arrogant to believe that anyone wants to see 100mb of your pictures?

Ditto on Steve's reply. Picasa is a great option!

Hi Lee. not sure who you were calling arrogant....but I already explained why I needed more than 100mb of pic storage. I already know that my camera's pictures are more than 2mb each. so, that gives me only 50 pics to store. I am pretty sure I'll be taking more than 50 pics during my 2 week trip to Spain (provided an ash cloud doesn't get in my way....sigh....) and I want to be able to upload all of them and not have to worry about picking and choosing which ones to upload so that I don't go over the 100mb storage limit on flickr.com. Does that help?

Thank you all for the replies. I registered at webshots and am really liking it already. I'll check out some of the others too. really appreciate all the replies, thanks so much!!!!

Toby, I have been using Flickr for years, and I think their "pro" account for $25/year is well worth it. You have unlimited uploads and it is really easy to organize and share your images.

And Lee, like the OP said, good quality digital photos do take up about 1.5-2MB each, so yes, a 100MB limit can be very jarring. Also, people go on trips and take lots of photos -- hundreds of them -- and it is not "arrogant" at all to assume your family and friends will want to look through them. A friend of mine went to Europe for 3 months and I looked through all of her photos, because I was interested in them. The OP also asked specifically for a photo sharing website, so he probably isn't interested in lugging around a netbook to show his photos to people. Not sure why your smug comments were necessary.

If you're a Costco member you can use their site. It comes with your membership and I don't think there's a storage limit.
