Where would you want to spend 2 weeks or more?

I'm planning to spend a month in Europe with my family next September. I'd like to sleep in no more than 2 places and just enjoy what the region has to offer (rather than sitesee). Throughout my travels I've identified a handful of areas that would seemingly be delightful to spend more time in including Burgundy/Beaune, French Alps/Annecy, Provence/Arles, Dordogne/Sarlat, Le Marches in Italy, Basque/St Sebastian, and Donegal in Ireland. I'm looking for some more places to consider/research so please send me your dream extended vacation spots!

Thanks!

Matt

If you like to cook, Amsterdam is a great city to have a self-catering accommodation and just do nothing (except shop, walk, drink and eat, of course.)

There are two areas with an outstanding concentration of butchers, bakeries and other gourmet shops:

Haarlemmerstraat - busy with locals and filled with bicycles commuting to Westerpark so always look both ways!

"De Pijp" - Much more upscale. Nice but not as colorful. Calm and quiet will cost more, too.

My vote is for Provence with Dordogne a close second.

I completely agree with the French areas that you have listed. They would be wonderful extended vacation locations.

I would also consider Tuscany and Umbria. I would stay in an agriturismo and day trip from there. Hands down, heaven on earth.

I am so envious!
