Where to visit? The Netherlands, Belgium, or Luxembourg

Im visiting Cologne in a couple weeks. I have a three days to visit somewhere else. I would like for it to be within driving distance. Any suggestions??

Thanks so much!

Near Genk (eastern Belgian province of Limburg), Domein Bokrijk has one of the better outdoor folk museums I've seen. It contains reconstructed period houses and buildings from throughout the Flemish region of Belgium.

Close to the town of Lanaken, there's a chateaux/hotel called La Butte aux Bois that hosts the most delectable Sunday brunch I have ever experienced.

If you want to see a typical Dutch city (minus the canals and windmills), check out Maastricht. There's nothing Earth-shattering here, but it's a pleasant enough town to spend a few hours and pretty close to Cologne.

My family and I just returned from Belgium and Netherlands - Brussels, Lueven, Brugge and Delft and Amsterdam. Great trip...everyone loved Brugge especially.

If you could tell us what kinds of things you like to do when you travel, that would help. Are you looking for museums or cultural things, or outdoor stuff? My gut feeling is to suggest Belgium, mostly because the food, chocolate and beer is to die for there.

One other suggestion. If you are into high fashion, the city of Hasselt in eastern Belgium has, for some reason not obvious to me, made itself the shopping mecca of the region. Personally, the only reason I could justify paying THAT much money for a handbag was if it came prepacked with cash, but what do I know about these things?
