We have 13 days to explore Dordogne,Provence, the French Riviera and Paris. We're driving from Amboise to Dordogne & planning on staying for 2 nights and driving to Provence. We have a car for 2 days in Provence and then will be taking trains. Can anyone suggest WHERE TO VISIT in the south? (we will have approx 5 days). We're thinking of flying from Nice to Paris for 6 nights.
I enjoyed the Pont du Gard, Nimes, and Avignon.
Guidebooks are your best source of general information about destinations like this, but if you'd prefer the tastes and opinion of a perfect stranger to your own, here's my take.
Skip the Riviera and divide what little time you have between the Dordogne (and Lot, and Vezere) and Provence, possibly stopping enroute. Take the TGV to Paris from Avignon when you are done.
