We plan to spend 3 days in Barcelona then pick up a rental car and head up the coast. How many days would you spend on the Costa Brava? We will be going in mid October. Also, what town would you use as a home base? We tend to like small, quaint old world towns. Thanks for suggestions.

Karen - My wife and I just biked for 7 days through the Costa Brava and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Depoending on your interests, there are all sorts of things to see and do. Some of the towns we particularly liked were Girona, Llafranc (on the coast), and Castello Empuries (Roman ruins). This is a tourist area (especially eastern Europeans and Scandinavians) in the summer, but October should be less crowded. Be sure to sample the Cava and other local wines.
