About 7 minutes away by car is one of the Accor hotel chain's Etap hotels, just off Calle Alcala, the Etap Valentin Beato, at 42 Euro per night. Basic but modern and comfortable, it's close to the M-40 ring road, so you'll be able to get out of Dodge quickly the next morning. The good thing about Spanish rush-hour traffic is that it starts later than here, and you'll be going most against the flow. Find the hotel's details at http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/etp/5100/fiche_hotel.shtml. Go to maps.google.com and enter these coordinates (40.438423, -3.626790) to find it on a map and satellite photo. The hotel is actually on Calle Rufino Gonzalez, which is one way towards towards Calle Alcala, so you'll have to circle round the block on Calle Valentin Beato, but that's pretty easy. Quiet business/residential neighbourhood.
