Where to stay - Lausanne, Vevey, or Montreux in July

We will be arriving in Geneva July 14th and plan to stay in area for two to three days before moving onto Berner Oberland and Lucerne. Looking for recommendations for which area to stay. Is Montreux crowded/high priced due to Jazz Festival? Interested in bicycling options and day trips.
