Where to Stay in Provence with Children

My husband and I and our 2 children, ages 6 and 3, are planning to go to Provence in mid-June for 5 days. I just ordered Rick's Provence book, and that probably won't get here for another week or two. In the meantime, I was hoping to reserve a place to stay. I'm looking for general recommendations on the best area (city, village or even a specific hotel) to stay where we can do day trips throughout the area or just veg at the hotel. We've been dragging the kids all over Italy for the past few years and they travel very well, but we still like to factor in some kid-friendly things, like playgrounds and pools. We would like to stay somewhere where we can walk to a restaurant for dinner or walk to a gelato stand, rather than something too rural. Instead we'll drive to/through the rural areas during the day. Any thoughts?

Meredith, my husband and I went to Provence last fall and we stayed in Isle-sur-la-Sorge, at Hotel les Nevons. The hotel was centrally located, the rooms were large, clean, and the breakfast was great. We stayed there 5 nights and did all of our day trips from here. They also have free parking, and you can walk into town. Rick Steves' tour group was staying there while we were there. I would recommend you ask for a room in the new addition. Have fun, I wish I was going back.

Thanks, Bonnie. They have rooms available and the rates are great-- 94 euro/night. When you add in breakfast it's a bit more, but still it seems like a great deal. Thanks for the recommendation!
