Could someone recommend a hotel for one night in Passau, Germany? We will be in Passau in August 2013. Thank you.
In 2007, I visited Passau, but did not find any place in the city I particularly liked, so I stayed in Vilshofen. Pension Sagerer (www.pension-sagerer.de) is not a hostel, but they cater to bicyclists using the Danube bike path. It has good sized, clean rooms with baths, nice breakfast, at a very reasonable price. Pension Sagerer is a short (¼ mi) walk from the Vilshofen Bahnhof, from which it's a 15 min train ride to the Passau Bahnhof.
Thank you.
We liked the König Hof in Passau. Nice size rooms, great breakfast, centrally located. Staff was helpful and friendly. We would stay there again. Made the reservations through the HRS.com.
Several years ago, we stayed at the Altstadt-Hotel. We got "upgraded" to a room facing the river and really enjoyed it.
Thank you all. We contacted Hotel Konig. Their double rooms only had ensuite bathtubs. We prefer showers but their rooms with showers are booked. We then wrote to the Residenz Passau and reserved a double room with a river view and bathroom with a shower for a good price. We find we tend to get a good room and good price when we contact the hotel directly. Again, thank you all for responding.
If you like a water view, the three rivers in Passau will give you more than you may want. Flooding of Passau this month has been horrific - worst flood since 1501. There are lots of photos on the Internet for you to peruse the inundation of this historic town center. While cleanup of the downtown is ongoing, you need to be aware of that when selecting accommodations.
