Where to stay in Paris for 5 days?

Hi Folks,
After much reading of the archives on this topic here, we've narrowed down to the arrondisements 3rd, 4th, 5th and 18th. Please guide us if there are any other arrondisements which are full of lively neighborhoods, local restaurants, close to metro. We are travelling with baby and no car.
Please suggest any websites to hunt for apartments in these arrondisements.
Thanks.

I'd start with www.vrbo.com and look at the 1st, 2nd, in addition to the 3rd, 4th or 5th. The 18th might be less expensive but far out and would require a lot of traveling on the Metro. Maybe not so convenient with a baby.

There are multiple websites you can use for apartment rentals in Paris. If you google Paris Vacation rentals or a variation on that you will find quite a few to choose from. I found my apartment there on vrbo.com. One thing to look for is what floor it is on and if there is an elevator. The apartment we rented was up four flights of stairs...no elevator. I'm sure you don't want to deal with something like that with a baby.

Which arrondisement is Ile Saint Louis? I've heard it is a beautiful place to stay in and close to most places including metro.

Ile St. Louis is in the 4th and we found a small, reasonably-priced apartment there. It's a great location!

I've read about the Latin Quater and it appears that its a place mostly for students. Do families live there happily? We would like to be able to go for romantic walks in the evening. Is the 6th arrondisement better in that case?

Hey Sonia. I love staying in the 6th and just booked a studio for 5 days in September thru www.paris-hideaways.com They are very accommodating and offer a nice selection of flats in great neighborhoods. Bon voyage!

Thank you! I am using Parisaddress.com to look up for places between the Luxembourg garden and Latin Quarter. Will a family of 2 and a baby stay nicely in a Studio or should we book a 1 bedroom? We will be mostly out, but having good space will be important.

We stayed in the 5th (Latin Quarter) and I thought it was a great location. We were there over the winter holidays, but I did not notice that it was only students there. There were people of all ages.

As well as rental flats try looking for "aparthotels" which are what the French call a halfway house between hotels and apartment rentals - buildings full of self-catering short-stay flatlets. The big chains are Appartcity and Citadines. I've used Citadines a lot myself and have never been disappointed.
