Hello, does anyone know a nice clean place with room and private bathroom, perhaps kitchenette, near Mercado Anton Martin, near calle Santa Isabel? what sort of price range should I expect? thinking of a two to four week stay... I want to take flamenco dancing at Amor de Dios and get my food at the mercado... thanks for any suggestions you can make... ...

Check out www.madridman.com...a good source of information. You may need to stay a bit away and take the metro to the area. Not difficult at all.

Hi, Monty! While I'm not saying you shouldn't, I'd better recommend you stay "north" of the Calle de Atocha in the Huertas neighborhood as opposed to south of it near the Mercado de Anton Martin or the Centro de Arte Flamenco y Danza Española Amor de Dios. Check out the Huéspedes Jaén just a few blocks north of these locations in the Huertas neighborhood. I've read good things about them. Only thing is, these apartments are considered "holiday apartments" charging 85 Euros per day - which will definitely add up over 2 to 4 weeks!! I'm afraid for this length of time you won't be able to find something much cheaper.
The ONLY other option I can see would be a kind of "Home Stay". There's a website called Ven A Mi Casa which is a very informal service and I've read no reviews about them, but know they've been around for about 10 years or so. Here, they charge like 30 Euros per night for a bedroom with a host family where, I would guess, you'd have access to the kitchen facilities. Best of luck with the flamenco studies!
