Please give me your best suggestions of where to stay (hotel, B&B, cottage or?) on Lake Maggiore

In June 2004 we stayed in Stresa at Hotel Primavera. The room included a wonderful breakfast. This hotel was on the lower end of the price scale but we were very happy. Budget accomodations was important on that trip b/c we were gone for several weeks; paying less for the rooms meant we could be gone longer. I don't know your budget, but in Stresa there are many, what I would call luxurious hotels along the lake promenade. I thought Stresa was a very convenient town to be able to visit the Boromean (sp?) islands and villas by ferry boat.
