I am currently planning a trip to Germany and would like to stay in Hamburg for 3 nights.Does anyone have any suggestions not too expensive for 4 adults. We'd like to be centrally located and close to public transportation.Thanks in advance.

I can help you with "centrally located and close to public transportation", but the hotel I have in mind isn't particularly cheap. Hotel Baseler Hof. Sits right around the corner from the Binnenalster. Elegant, and with a great breakfast spread.

I'am going to be in Hamburg next month, and when looking over all the hotels this place seemed to have some of the best rates: http://tinyurl.com/a9xa5zj It's only one stop from the main train station via the U-bahn, and the U-bahn station has a direct walkway to the hotel.
