We're going to France for 10 days. We're staying in Paris for 5 and then want to go to a nice little place in the countryside that's not too far from Paris. Any suggestions? And any recommendations for a little hotel, or B&B would be appreciated. It's for my fiancee and me. We don't want to do too much sightseeing, just want to meld into a small village and relax.
The Roserie Hotel in Chenonceaux was very nice and had excellent food. It's probably a three hour drive from Paris. You can visit chateau or just relax. You could stop and see Chartres on the way.
Do you require a place you can get to by train or will you have car?
One suggestion would be to explore the Logis de France website. It's an organization of small, family run hotels throughout small-town France. Many have websites you can check out. You can explore the hotels in many towns on train lines from Paris.
Yes, will you be renting a car or using the train? Can't make good suggestions until we know the transport option...What i think of as a "village" aren't usually on train routes...and what's your idea of "not too far"?
You have a LOT of choices.
Time of year and your own personal tastes and interests may help narrow things down.
Flying home from someplace other than Paris may widen your options back up!
thanks for all the responses. We are going at the beginning of September. We don't want to rent a car. Would like to go to a quaint little town for a couple of nights, and then perhaps take a taxi to another small town for 2 more nights. Just want to relax and explore. Don't want to do too much travelling. Just relax. Maybe go to a vineyard. Any quaint little places would be perfect. We would be interested in staying in a small boutique hotel or a B&B. Looking for a romantic relaxing time before we make our way back to the airport in Paris.
