Where to stay in Berlin for 4?

Does anyone have recommendations on both location to stay in Berlin for a long weekend (traveling there by train from Prague) and hotels for a family of 4? I am not sure an apartment is the way to go - has anyone stayed at the Hollywood Media hotel? Thanks for any help.

Our family of 4 stayed at hotel-pension bregenz. It was a good value located near the zoo. Beautiful 12 foot ceilings.

Not sure why you would not want to stay in an apt. but the Hollywood Media looks pretty pricey to me. Especially in a city where hotel prices are not usually that high. Were you looking for a special themed atmosphere for your weekend, or lots of extras, like pool-gym-buffets, etc.? Berlin has an over-abundance of hotels for every taste and budget, so perhaps a bit more information about what you want in a hotel or B&B will allow us to help you find the perfect place.

I have been scouring sites to find a hotel that could accommodate the four of us in one room that is central to sites/transportation. Since Berlin is so spread out, I thought staying near the zoo was best - but I will admit, I know very little. So the first place that has been able to accommodate us is this Hollywood Media Hotel...and yes, much more than I would care to spend. I am still looking. If it was less expensive to get two rooms, I would do that. If anyone can give us advice on what section of the city makes sense, that would help. (We are coming by train from Prague.)

When we were there about 4 years ago, the Marriott could accomodate 4 in 2 double beds. Good location. Not sure what their prices are now or if you are looking for budget accomodations.

Try www.hrs.com. They have really good prices and special deals and you can check the availability right away along with the photos of how the places look and where they are located in Berlin. Being near the Tiergarten is great as it is pretty central and the public transportation from there is good too. It might be easier to get two double rooms I think, when booking at a hotel. Otherwise, the apts. might be better, as you can get a two room apt. What are your travel dates? Is there a trade fair going on then that is making it difficult to find rooms? They always make it tougher and more expensive.

I would check out Youth hostels that have family rooms. many of them have rooms like that with several groups of bunkbeds. if you are on a budget, this is the only way to go. you can also save some money on food by cooking yourself now and then.
