Hi everyone! I'd love to hear some recommendations about what areas are best to spend the night in Amsterdman, and which I should avoid. Also, if you know of any budget hotel, suggestions will be well received!! What about the area around Beatrixpark??
Thank you in advance! Cheers!
How many days/nights are you planning for Amsterdam? If its a very short stay I would tend to stay in the City on one of the canals, so yor hotel is accessible during the day and you dont spend time travelling
We stayed at Vondelpark Hostel. It's a decent hostel, close to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, and Vondelpark. It's also convenient to public transport to go elsewhere in the city.
We loved the Amsterdam American Hotel...right on the Leidesplein for easy transportation, lots of pubs and restaurants, tram stop, etc. Also easily walk to Museumplein....well run hotel in a super area.
I stayed at the Hotel Brouwer. It's an old canal side house that is quite near the train station. My room looked right out on the canal. Here's the link. http://www.hotelbrouwer.nl/hoteleng.html Pam
Hi Natalia. I stayed twice at the Quentin Arrive Hotel (http://www.quentinarrivehotel.com/) on Haarlemmerstraat (now about 90 euros per night for a double room with a bathroom down the hall). In July of this year I stayed at Frederic Rent-A-Bike (http://www.frederic.nl/), also about 70 euros per night for a double with shared bathroom. Frederic has a number of properties (I stayed at Frederic's Parents' Place) with rooms that vary widely in price and amenities. Both the Quentin Arrive Hotel and Frederic are in the Jordaan district, which is a lovely neighborhood very close to Centraal Station.
We also stayed at the Hotel Brouwer, and loved the place. Not cheap, but worth it IMHO. Book far in advance - the place fills up with Ricknics and the tours.
