Do you have any suggestions about places to stay in the heart of the 2013 La Merce festivities (9/21-9/24). It will be my wife and I plus 1 or 2 other couples? We do not have to stay in the same place, however, close would be wonderful.

Have you considered an apartment? Two years ago a friend and I rented a 2 bedroom apartment during the festival. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and is 95€ per night. It would easily accommodate 2 couples. If you need something larger, they also have a 3 bedroom for a higher price. For the 2 bedroom check out VRBO #74574. The apartment is not in the heart of the Le Merce festivities, but it is near a metro station so you can travel anywhere from there. For something closer you may have difficulty finding something at this point, and I assume the prices will be somewhat inflated.
