My parents and I are going back to Europe next year and will be going in July. We wil be driving from Marseilles through Andorra on the way to Barcelona. We want to spend a little bit in Andorra and would like to see some of it. We were thinking Andorra La vella. What would you reccomend? Thanks!!
Driving through Andorra isn't exactly on the way since it turns a five-hour drive into a ten hour-one. And that's going the longer, faster way, darn near to Toulouse. The shorter way would add another three or four hours. If you've got to do it, La Vella is about as good a place as any. It'd be easier to just find a string of old K-marts somewhere and walk around them.
Andorra is a duty-free shopping area very popular with the Spanish and French neighbours. The main north-south road is gruesome. I have never seen so many construction sites and cranes. EVERYONE there is shopping. You will find much nicer places to stay in the surrounding countryside.

Ed is right with his Kmart reference! We drove up there one summer day and the place was like a giant shopping mall. Lots to bargains to be had if that is of interest, but we just had lunch and left.
