I have approximately 1 week for travel after a business trip to Monaco. I will be traveling the first week of November. I've already done the French Riveria and was thinking of heading in another direction, but don't know where to go this time of year. Should I try something close? Or, should I head back to Nice and fly to Croatia? I would love lots of suggestions!
Stay warm and head over to the Italian Riviera and on down to Cinque Terre and then to Tuscany. Fly back to L.A. from either Pisa or Florence.
Italy is beautiful in November. Have you travelled there? Do you have a full seven days? You could fly into Venice and then head down to Florence. Discover Florence and Tuscany and then fly out of Florence. Or, fly into Florence, train down towards Rome, stopping in the hilltown of Orvieto. Then tour Rome and fly out of Rome. So, many possibilities.
Alyson,,I do think weather will play a role in your decision making. In November alot of places will be starting their rainy cooler seasons,, so if your interests are museums, indoor sites, shopping, then weather is not a huge deal, but if you are thinking more along walking, cafe sitting, outdoor activities then do take weather into account. Rome would be a decent choice, it will not be hot, maybe not even warm... but from beginning of November to end starts averages at 17-18 highs, to 14s by end of month, not too bad for touring about.
From what I have read , Croatia averages vary from 6 to 12 celcius daily averages depending on where in Croatia you go. You could even consider just going to Paris,, Paris is wonderful :)
Lake Como would be fine destination but it will be a bit chilly in November. Milan is worth a visit 365 days a year and train connections from Milan can take you anywhere in "The Boot" ; including Rome, which has been an absolute must do for any traveler for 2000+ years.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions! What a wonderful group of travellers! have travelled fairly extensively through Italy, but have not been to Milan. Are there lots of delightful day trips from there? I am not afraid of being cold. I live in 70 degree and sunny all year long, so cold seems refreshing right now. Paris is of course wonderful, and I may have the opportunity to visit for a few days before Monaco. I am curious to know if anyone recommends Croatia or Slovenia.
