Looking for accommadation in Bordeaux a hotel with a restaurant, bar and nice rooms in the in center of town or were all the shops and cafes are at. Help looking to spend around up to 80Euros per night.
Well, I can't help you with the center of town angle - but in July of this year I stayed in the Ibis hotel just down the street from the train station. It has a small bar and dining room, but they aren't anything fancy. If I remember right, it cost me around 72 Euros/night, with breakfast an extra 7.
Keep in mind that the tourist office is in the same building as the train station - again, just a short walk from the Ibis hotel. That's where you go to book wine tours and things like that.
Indeed, you can walk from the Ibis to all sorts of nice cafes, restaurants, shops, and so on. And frankly, I think you might be spending more than 80 Euros for something fancier than the Ibis.
In Rick's guidebook, he lists Bordeaux as a boring town. But I spent 3 nights there, and it wasn't a bad place to relax. By the way, if you want to do a winery tour, make sure you sign up early - I tried to get into one on departure morning, but they were sold out.
Good luck!
